Why are my whitelists/blacklists not working?

If you are finding that email addresses you have blacklisted in MagicSpam are not being blocked it is likely that the incorrect address was added to the blacklist. When the address from the header of the spam message is entered into the blacklist this is often not the correct address, because MagicSpam works on the SMTP level of an email MagicSpams blacklists need the MAIL FROM address which is the true address of an email.

In your MagicSpam logs look for the address under "Sender" this is the MAIL FROM address from the SMTP layer of the email that MagicSpam is looking for.

Similarly the whitelists also need the same address for MagicSpam to exempt email from that address.

If you are finding either is not working double check your whitelisted/blacklisted addresses with the MagicSpam logs, if they are different from the logs that is likely the cause for the whitelist/blacklist not working.
