No logs?

Hello,
I'm taking on admin duties for a mailserver running Zimbra 8.6.0 (Patch 1191) Open Source Edition,
on CentOS 6.7 (Final), with MagicSpam 2.0.0-1.

Protection is enabled, but the logs hadn't been updated since some time in 2014. I followed some steps I found elsewhere on this forum to clear the /var/log/magicspam and verify the permissions.

Since doing this, the logs are completely empty and I have no stats.

I checked the cron log and I see this:

Jan 17 02:04:01 mail CROND[23738]: (zimbra) CMD (/opt/zimbra/libexec/zmstatuslo$
$bin/magicspam-rlmanager -c >/dev/null 2>&1)

Can you help me figure out the next step?

Hello atindall,

Thank you for your post.

Could you please try running the following two commands:

Code: Select all

/usr/share/magicspam/bin/register -i
then

Code: Select all

/usr/share/magicspam/bin/register -a
Please let us know if that resolves your issue or if you have any questions.

I've already got one hit on the log, immediately after I ran the two commands. I suspect it worked.

Thank you for the help!

Sorry, to follow up --

While the logs are definitely working, I currently only have "mslog" and "mslog.1". Is this correct behavior?

Hello atindall,

That is indeed the correct behavior.

MagicSpam logs will be rotated daily and after running a full week, you should see mslog.1 through mslog.7.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello Pranav188,

We are sorry to hear that you are encountering issues with our software. We make a best effort to ensure that our software will operate in every condition possible, but unfortunately with the multitude of configurations for a Linux Server that are available this we sometimes fail in this attempt.

May we know some details about the environment in which you have MagicSpam installed? Can you please verify that this is MagicSpam on Zimbra that you are running? (We assume yes as you have posted on the Zimbra forums).

May we also know the following:

Version of Zimbra
Operating System (eg: CentOS, RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian, SuSE)
Operating System Version
Operating System Architecture (32 bit or 64 bit)

And addendum information:

Do you have SELinux enabled in 'enforcing' mode
Do you have AppArmour enabled in an enforcing profile
Are there any other 'security' related systems installed on this server such as CageFS?

Thank you for taking the time to discuss this with us, and we look forward to resolving this for you!

My system configurations are as follows :

centos-release-6-7.el6.centos.12.3.x86_64 - 64bit
Zimbra 8.6.0 GA 1153 FOSS
SELinux is not enabled - if it was enabled the zimbra won't even work.
AppArmour is not even enabled on machine
And no other security related systems are installed so far.
